Club Overview

The Louisiana Tech Amateur Radio Club, W5HGT, has served the Lincoln Parish community and Tech campus since its founding, circa 1937. We promote the facilitation of emergency communications, participate in local ham (amateur radio) meetings, and construct projects relating to radio communication such as antennas and Morse code oscillators. Licensing for ham radio is conducted monthly by the Piney Hills Amateur Radio Association (PHARA).

Purposes of the W5HGT Amateur Radio Club:

  • Represent Louisiana Tech University and its high standards
  • Assist the Lincoln Parish community by providing emergency communications when necessary
  • Foster an education in electronics and wireless communications
